its more important to talk sense on the forums especially after 150 of us members having met 300 lawmaker offices on april 4th and 5th. Several of those staffers might visit these forums expecting logical and sane debates instead of petty fights.

My friend's I-485 application was sent to NSC on 26th July. No RN as yet...

They will not approve a derivative case without approving the principal. USCIS does not follow FIFO, so though it is possible they picked up a 485 application from July, the second problem of having a PD available kicks in.
So for this approval to be valid, some IO should have
1. Picked up a July application for processing
2. Ignored the PD requirement
3. Approved the derivative without bothering to first approve the primary.
Three mistakes together is impossible. It is just a data entry error.

ags123, not to alarm you, but is it possible to apply now for your wife? Since you already got your 485 approved and crossed the proverbial line into the gc land.

Wow, a pdf! You should start a service! I'd love the step-by-step if you don't mind. I'm not getting the knack of this too quickly. Thanks!
I'll post it tonight when I get home from work.
